JESS TOMLINS (NEE BEAHAN)
PRESIDENT 2009 Graduate 2008/2009 SRC President Current Job: Graduate Lawyer, McCormicks Law Jess holds a Bachelor of Creative Industries majoring in music and Bachelor of Laws (Hons). Jess is currently a graduate lawyer at McCormicks Law, and is due to be admitted into the legal profession in November 2016. Being passionate about music and the industry, Jess has worked on various music festivals and concerts, and worked with national and international artists touring Australia, and travelled with artists in the US. Working in these environments has exposed her to industry specific demands and realities, that further assist the work she does for entertainment clients in the legal industry. Jess has worked within the legal industry for 5 years, at law firms focusing in the areas of intellectual property, entertainment and commercial law. She started off as a personal assistant and law clerk while studying full time, and has been a graduate lawyer (supervised trainee) for the last year and a half. She plans to continue working in these areas after admission, focusing on music and entertainment industry clients. |
BEN MURPHY
VICE PRESIDENT 2006 Graduate 2005/2006 School Captain Current Job: Scheduling Systems Manager - Phillip Boyle & Associates Ben graduated from QUT with a Bachelor of Laws in 2010, returning to QUT in 2011 to study a Masters of Mathematics, specializing in Operations Research. In 2012 he discontinued his studies to work at the TransLink Transit Authority as part of their graduate program, specialising in Operations Management. Ben is now Scheduling Systems Manager for an international transport consulting & scheduling firm. He works with governments and transport operators to improve their systems and operations, with a particular focus on data driven analytics and process improvement. While it's not directly related to Law or Mathematics, they have been the perfect blend of skills for his job. While Ben enjoys the interesting and exciting projects in Melbourne, he says the best part of his job is definitely the travel. “I've recently returned from my third trip to the Seychelles, somewhere I couldn't even locate on a map a year ago, let alone imagined visiting! I strongly believe in the old adage that if you find a job you love, you'll never work a day in your life, and I am lucky to have found that enjoyment from work so soon after uni.” |
GORDON MILLS
SECRETARY/COMMS OFFICER 2008 Graduate Current Job: Accountant, NthStar and Business Owner Gordon graduated from QUT in 2013 with a Double Degree in Business (Accounting) and IT, both with Distinction. He is also a qualified Chartered Accountant. He started his career working for KPMG (one of the Big 4 Global Professional Service Companies, with offices in 127 countries, and over 156,000 people employed worldwide) as an IT Consultant. He then moved to aged care and is now currently working part time as an accountant whilst he works on launching his businesses, The Alignment Mentor and YourUltimateWelless. The Alignment Mentor will be a positive online community that helps people realise their direction and goals in life and gives them tools to stay on track in achieving them. YourUltimateWellness is about educating, providing solutions and supporting people looking to improve their health through nutrition, training and the right mindset. |
